San Diego woman falls for online dating scam, local FBI reveals alarming romance scam numbers
If you've never seen them in the flesh and blood, then be skeptical. If they won't video conference with you, then be very suspicious.

Good advice, twister! Don't be desperate or gullible and also don't fall for the first person who comes along. Be skeptical if someone seems to good to be true. Don't believe hardluck stories told to you be strangers. But all this advice is difficult for those suffering from loneliness to follow!

Tinder launches "height verification" feature?
People on dating sites lie about their height? How could that be so?

ergot: People lie about a lot of things and height is probably one of the most insignificant items I can imagine. Then again maybe on a dating site that's a big deal and maybe you wind up with height inflation with guys who are 6'5" claiming to be 6'8" because too many guys who are 6'2" say that they're 6'5" who stretch the truth because guys who are 6' even say that they're 6'2", etc., etc., etc. I'd imagine that the size of various body parts might also be exaggerated if that's part of a dating profile.

My experience is that women prefer men between the heights of 5 foot ten inches and six foot two. Above and below that the attaction diminishes although some tend to like 'em tall and others like 'em on the short side. Too much of a height difference is always awkward and as always height is only one factor to consider when selecting a mate.

I wonder how many incels try online dating services. Not that online dating services are likely to change their luck, but you never know.
