Political polarization is making dating worse
How important is political compatibility? Probably not all that important for millennials. Most of them are independents not registered with either major political party. While older couples tend to both belong to the same political party, younger couples don't seem to worry so much about party affiliation.

shadylady: Political compatibility is important for some people and not so important for others. Many people can tolerate people with views which are different from their own, but others just cannot handle this kind of disagreement. So the answer is IT DEPENDS!

recluse: It can go either way whether someone is good looking or bad looking. Just as many people are glass half empty as are glass half full regardless of what they look like. Also good looking is such a subjective thing that it would be impossible to really determine any kind of correlation one way or the other.

Hate To Date? Here's A Dating App Made To Hate
The guy who made this app claims that there is scientific evidence which suggests that matching people according to things they hate is more effective than matches based on things they like. Oddly enough, that makes a lot of sense. For instance, think about this. Lots of people like to go to the gym, but it's also quite common for people to be frustrated with other people who spend time at the gym since they compete over equipment. You don't have that kind of conflict between people who hate the same thing. Just a thought.

Decoding the dating trend known as breadcrumbing
A paranoid person might interpret politeness and basic civility as "breadcrumbing" and so I'm not sure how much credence I'd put into this discussion. There's nothing wrong with keeping your options open and there's no need to unnecessarily burn bridges. At the same time leading someone on indefinitely isn't nice, but being overly eager can cause someone to think that they are being led on when nothing of the sort is actually the case.

Going through the trouble of getting to know someone and setting up a blind date just to rob them? I'm not saying it couldn't happen but saying it's becoming a trend sounds like click bait or fake news.

surfsteve: That depends on what you mean by trend. Scams come and go and the extent that a certain scam gets used tends to hit a peak at some point and then fade away as people become more aware of it. From the vid I posted it sounds like in Sacramento that the blind date scenario has been used with increasing frequency recently. That seems like a reasonable possibility and not fake news or even click bait unless the cop in the video is just making it all up.
