Bad taste? German eatery forced to close over Erdogan burgers
John Oliver speaks for all of us when he says that he's glad that the USA doesn't have a law like the one in Germany which allows comedians to face legal consequences for satirical comments about world leaders.

Why so serious: German court bans most of Erdogan-mocking poem
How is this even possible? Is Germany now so progressive that it's become regressive?

Fmr Miss Turkey Convicted Of "Insulting" President Erdogan
Since August 2014 more than 1800 people, including cartoonists, journalists, and teenagers, have been prosecuted for insulting Erdogan. This is not what respectable leaders do. This makes Turkey look stupid and the USA by extension since we support the idiot.

cactuspete: It was only a few months ago that Turkey recklessly shot down a Russian jet. Russia had every right in the world to retaliate in a brutal manner and if they had we would have provided military assistance to Turkey! How incredibly stupid this makes us look, especially in light of the fact that Erdogan is basically an authoritarian dictator, while Russia in many ways is more of a democracy than we are.

The US Deep State & neocons bang phony "Russian Threat" drum because it's all they have
This new Cold War is not the result of anything that Russia is doing. It's all people here in the USA who are stuck in the 1980s.

Putin meets Erdogan for 1st time since downing of Russian jet
Erdogan coming to his senses. He can be a US pawn in a proxy war or he can be an ally with Russia. If things escalate in Syria, he's much more safe if he's on the side of Russia since if he sides with the USA his country becomes a battleground. It's an easy calculation to make.

U.S would be smart to mend relationship with Russia – Former U.S Diplomat
Despite the sanctions imposed against Russia by the USA, Turkey realizes that Russia's economic influence is too great to ignore.

US to Face Isolation in Mid East if it Doesn’t 'Expand Dialogue With Russia'
Cooperation between Turkey, Syria, Iran, and Russia could set gains made by the USA in the Middle East back to the way things were before the Cuban Missile Crisis of the early 1960s. Turkey (Erdogan) realizes that they could become cutoff and surrounded by allies of Russia and that they cannot depend on the USA for protection. Erdogan obviously regrets much of what he said several months ago when his forces shot down a Russian jet. He's already walked that back, but now he's going further and depending on how the situation develops it would not be surprising if Turkey eventually withdraws from NATO.

Glenn Greenwald on Hillary Clinton & the "New McCarthyism"
Have things gone full circle? It used to be the Republicans who used this tactic and now it's the Democrats. The world is turned upside down!
