This is what happens when ideological activism is substituted for intellectual honesty.

Academic Hoax
Perfect example of what this thread is about! Fake academics undermines the mission of academic institutions. Whether it's Black Studies, Gay Studies, Women's Studies, or whatever studies, it's all agenda driven and it puts advocacy before academics. Even many teacher training programs operate using this approach. It's a travesty and ultimately is very anti-intellectual and at odds with the development of a free society.

Roger Scruton: How Fake Subjects like Women Studies Invaded Academia
Many people never attend a college or a university, but they hear about some of the stupid stuff that is allowed under the guise the academics. This calls into question the legitimacy of our institutions of higher learning. Fake subjects must be purged from colleges and universities in order to regain respect for our academic institutions!

The Coddling of the American Mind
In this world of microaggressions and trigger warnings we see an attack being waged against reason, evidence, facts, logic, etc. and people clinging to what might be called emotional reasoning. The entire notion of "emotional intelligence" is emblematic of this trend away from academic integrity.
Something strange is happening at America’s colleges and universities. A movement is arising, undirected and driven largely by students, to scrub campuses clean of words, ideas, and subjects that might cause discomfort or give offense.

Basic truths are being attacked...
The list of offensive statements included: “America is the land of opportunity” and “I believe the most qualified person should get the job.”

And if you do try to actually use reason and logic...
You might call this impulse vindictive protectiveness. It is creating a culture in which everyone must think twice before speaking up, lest they face charges of insensitivity, aggression, or worse.

In fact, one of the most common cognitive distortions is emotional reasoning and yet the idea of "emotional intelligence" is often pushed by educational institutions. It's time for educational institutions to return to practices which encourage academic and intellectual integrity.

Conservative speaker assaulted at University of Missouri-Kansas
Progressives say they want diversity, but in reality they won't tolerate diversity. Progressives have become so narrow-minded and dogmatic that they are actually the embodiment of all the things they claim to hate. They are such clueless hypocrites!

Perfect example of the problem! When disagreeing with someone is conflated with violence, we can no longer have a rational discussion.
