There's a lot of speculation about what impact Trump getting the coronavirus could have on the election. Some of it is crazy and some of it is reasonable, but there are lots of possible routes this could take. A couple of the most likely include:
1) Trump is lucky enough to have a light case of COVID-19 and as a result he claims that it's no big deal.
2) Trump has a severe case of COVID-19 and is not able to campaign, but people might feel sorry for him and this could potentially help him. On the other hand, it could also prove that he was a fool for not taking the coronavirus seriously enough.
3) Trump has a more severe case of COVID-19 and winds up hospitalized for several weeks. He might request that the election be postponed. I'm not sure if that could be done or not.
Chances are that Trump will not have a serious case of COVID-19 since he will be constantly monitored by physicians 24/7. He will claim that the coronavirus is no big deal, but this will a disingenuous assertion since most people don't have the luxury of receiving the kind of medical attention that he takes for granted. How this plays out politically is difficult to predict, but we'll see....
