I have a recipe for Filaree Frittata ( kinda a quiche without milk or cream). The Natives, quail, K-rats, squirrels, and finches do or have ate this plant.

Anyone know what the plants with the yellow flowers are on the way to Ridgecrest? They're mostly near the hill with the cross at the top.

tronagirl: Good question! I've noticed them too and had the exact same question. They definitely add a lot of color to the drive into Ridgecrest.

I've noticed those yellow flowers too. I'll have to stop and take a closer look next time I head out that way. They certainly brighten the landscape up quite a bit!

Yellow Flowers: They are desert senna and they are in the Pea Family. They are much more prevalent in the southern half of San Bernardino County and into Riverside County than they are up here, but they are found in most of the southwest and into Mexico.

wildrose: Thanks for identifying the plant. Whatever the name it certainly brightens up the roadside on the way to and from Ridgecrest!

Desert Senna. I like the plant and want some growing in my yard. Anyone know how I could accomplish that goal? Anyone know where I can get some plants or some seeds?

twister: Try Dave's Garden on the web. I'd look it up right now, but I'm in a hurry. Share what you find out. It's always fun to find out something new!
