panamint_patty: I tend to agree although it could be that the particular lady who whined about the issue in this video wouldn't whine if the situation were reversed. HOWEVER, there is no doubt that someone would whine if kids were "exposed to inappropriate sexual and violent lyrics" and so your point is valid. The fact is that the memo was sent to bus drivers and not the general public and so a different standard of "sensitivity" should apply. It is unfair to criticize the district in this case and in many ways this is a classic catch-22 situation where you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.

Charter Schools: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
This video provides good insight into the dysfunctionality and corruption of the vast majority of charter schools. Something like 90% of charter schools fail completely with most of the rest of them just barely equaling traditional public schools in terms of quality of education. Less than one percent of charter schools are in any way remarkable and yet that's what the media focuses on giving the public a false impression that charter schools are a good alternative. BTW, online charter schools are even worse than physical charter schools, just in case you were wondering.

shadylady: As I recall from a past board meeting thread the local school has some kind of contract with an online charter school. Hopefully that doesn't turn out to be a mistake. Given what seem to be the facts, it does seem like the media has a bias in favor of charter schools which isn't supported by their actual performance.

Poway student says she's the victim of bullying
If it's not happening at school, then how is this even any of the school's business, much less their responsibility?

twister: Schools should stay out of the personal business of both students and employees. There's a solid line that should exist between school business and personal business. Unless the mean messages were sent at school and during school time, then it's really none of the school's business.

Wheels on the school bus go … stopped
This shortage of school bus drivers is forcing school districts to pay their drivers more and offer them more hours. According to one source I found online the average salary for school bus drivers in California is $28,000 per year, but the range was from around $24k to about $42k. If you add in health benefits that's significantly better than what people at Walmart make, for instance, but considering the responsibilities of school bus drivers (transporting children safely), they undoubtedly deserve more.
