If it's not about plants, but it is about the natural environment of Death Valley, then this is the place to post your info or question.

Yes. What we really need now is non potable water. In addition to cleaning and flushing toilets it would be nice to have some to be able to pour into the swamp coolers.

Free water distribution in Trona after the major earthquakes knocked their water system offline.
Info about power being off from ten to two today. SCE making repairs.

7-6-2019 Trona, Ca Earthquake damage, numerous structures damaged, water pickup, roads cracked
Brick is not the best building material if you live in an area where earthquakes are common is the conclusion I draw from this video.

Trona Damage after 7.1 earthquake
Lots of damage following the quakes. No word at this point on how many people have been displaced as a result of the quakes, but there must be at least a few.

Ridgecrest Quake Could Mean More Frequent Magnitude-6 Earthquakes
During the 1970s and 1980s earthquakes were more frequent in southern California. Things were pretty quiet for a couple decades and now the normal frequency of earthquakes may resume according to this expert. Those of us who were alive back in the 1970s probably were less frightened as a result of the quakes since we grew up with them. Younger people seemed to freak out a little more or at least that was what I observed.

Aftershocks rock California after 2 major earthquakes
The quake did not occur "in Ridgecrest"!!!! It happened between Ridgecrest and Trona. Big news channels seem to be unaware that Trona was impacted too!

Trona, Ridgecrest Struggle To Recover After 2 Major Earthquakes
More video of earthquake damage. Not sure at this point what kind of assistance will be available for people who had lots of damage to deal with.

Trona Water Company WHAT IS GOING ON?

Postby surfsteve » Mon Jul 08, 2019 7:39 am

I realize that they are having problems getting our water back on but the least they could do is leave a recording or information with the plant security as to their best guess about if and when our water is going to be turned back on. Shame on them for keeping everybody in the dark and not giving us any information to allow us to make the best decision on what to do in this emergency! I am down to two tenants in my apartment buildings and one of them before they left was going around telling everybody that the people that worked at the plant told them Trona wasn't safe and advised them to pack up and leave forever and they didn't even know if the plant was ever going to reopen. If I had some information to give them I would have been able to confirm or refute what they said but I am powerless to provide answers.

This does not directly answer your question, but apparently the message was relayed from the plant to the school and it does provide a little insight into the process being followed:
This message is from Trona Unified School District.

To all Searles Valley Minerals, Inc. (SVM) employees: Following the recent earthquakes, SVM is working with its insurance providers and engineering firms to evaluate the best approach to make those repairs needed to resume full production safely and quickly. Concurrently, SVM is coordinating with government agencies to restore essential services to its facilities and the Trona Community. Only essential personnel are being granted access to the SVM facilities at this time. Only those employees who have been contacted by their Managers directly will be granted access to the SVM facilities during the periods Monday, 08 July 2019 through Wednesday, 10 July 2019. If you have not been contacted by your direct Supervisor/Manager, you can presume that you have not been requested to appear at the SVM facilities during the period 08 â?? 10 July 2019. All SVM employees will be paid during this three day period according to their regular work schedule. Only those employees whose names appear on an authorized entry list will be granted access to the facilities by Security. All entrance to and exit from the facilities will be through the Security main gate. Please spread thos information due to the message being so long it would not fit through text message, thank you.

If you have any questions please call the High School office at 1-760-372-2824 or the Elementary School at 1-760-372-2868.
