Each student enters school healthy and learns about and practices a healthy lifestyle.
Each student learns in an environment that is physically and emotionally safe for students and adults.
Each student is actively engaged in learning and is connected to the school and broader community.
Each student has access to personalized learning and is supported by qualified, caring adults.
Each student is challenged academically and prepared for success in college or further study and for employment and participation in a global environment.

All this sounds great, but the devil is in the details. It's hard to disagree with these general statements, but once a community agrees to these general statements, that's when the bait and switch occurs and all sorts of little ideological surprises are slipped in behind the scenes. It's the same ole scam, but dressed up a little differently!

wildrose: You're absolutely right. What do they mean by "healthy lifestyle"? That seems like kind of a loaded term that could include a lot of things. What about "qualified, caring adults"? Who qualifies? Is there a racial quota attached to that little gem? And "connected to the school and broader community"? That's a can of worms if I've ever seen one! There are more examples that we could pick apart, but my favorite is "emotionally safe"! That sounds like the classic SJW tactic for silencing dissent! Definitely a lot to "unpack" here as the "woke" cool kids like to say!

There's no doubt that there are a lot of liberal code words in there.
drdesert wrote:The reference to a "global environment" is also a little shaky. Let's face it, change a few letters and you have "global government" and we all know what that means!
:wtf:

Definitely there seems to be support for a globalist agenda.

ergot: That's very impressive. The typical high school student can't put together more than a couple lines that rhyme and even then the cringe would be evident. What qualifies as a "talented" high school student nowadays might make a cringe-worthy rap which just barely manages to stay on topic. These guys are far and away the most talented high school students I've ever seen. There may be hope for the future!

Can someone please tell me what is going on with the school website? Nothing has been updated for a long time. There's still an announcement stating that school starts on Sept. 3. That announcement is from last summer! Does anyone do anything at that school anymore? I was there a few weeks before the shutdown and things were a mess. It didn't look like anyone was taking care of anything. What the heck is going on?

California Schools Require All Students To Worship Rainbow Flag When Lady Gaga Song Plays
Would Governor Newsome actually do something like this? I'm sure he would if he could!
Governor Gavin Newsom was reportedly sitting around in his office with nothing to do Tuesday, which is a problem for a guy whose job it is to meddle in people's lives. But then he got an idea: "Why don't we fashion a rainbow flag for our public school students and have them bow down to it whenever some music plays?" So he called up the state legislature and by the late afternoon, the bill was signed into law: all students are now required to bow before a large rainbow flag whenever a special, all-LGBT trumpet band plays at their public schools.

The first six minutes of this video is just a message saying that the meeting will start shortly. The budget presentation goes on for about a half hour.

Education reform in America: The school choice debate
This is a huge conundrum and as a retired teacher I probably understand this issue more clearly than the vast majority of policy makers and I'm willing to speak frankly on the topic. The number one factor determining the quality of a school is the quality of the students attending that school. Although cultural factors make a very small difference, the bottom line is the average IQ of the students attending the school. Inner-city schools may have an average student IQ of about 90 whereas top-tiered schools in affluent neighborhoods where there is no desegregation occurring may have an average student IQ topping 105. Herein lies the conundrum. If you're a smart kid attending an inner-city school, your best bet is to attend a better school. If enough smart kids leave the inner-city school, then the average student IQ of that school drops even lower to something like 88. If the smart kids stay in the inner-city school they may help a few kids with close to average IQs do a little better, but if they leave then those average kids are even worse off than before. Ultimately, the effect of desegregation efforts was to bring all schools up or down to average. Redistribution of the low-IQ students so that everyone shares the burden equally is basically what we wind up with.

wildrose: I read an article on Educational Interventions a couple months ago and the main conclusion was that educational interventions are not at all cost-effective. Not only do they not make a significant contribution to the future success of a student, but the cost outweighs the minuscule benefits by a wide margin. Although there are lots of anecdotal stories about educational interventions helping individual students, when we look at statistical evidence on how populations of students are impacted by these interventions, it's clear that they have little if any long term effect. Ultimately, we see regression towards the mean in all cases with the underlying reality being that intelligence is almost entirely a genetic given and that learning is something driven by intelligence more than the other way around.

Teaching Fads for Control and Profit
This is from an organization called the Open Minds Foundation. The say they encourage healthy skepticism.
Educational fads easily become cults that take over their members’ lives. They can be teaching study skills, philosophical or religious ideas, or even martial arts.
