There seems to be some truth to the idea that popular music can influence social policy and this might be such a case.

Why do second graders need to hear about this stuff? The one thing I disagree with in this video are the comments made about pornography. Full nudity is not necessarily pornography. There's nothing wrong with appreciating the beauty of the human body in great detail. Nude cartoons designed to help kids to learn about human anatomy are perfectly fine too as long as they are age appropriate and relevant to lessons which are appropriate in a school environment.
I think pop groups use controversy to gain attention and so they write outrageous songs not to promote social change, but to promote their careers.

However, many fans take the lyrics too seriously and as a result "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" becomes a prescription for social change instead of a farcical musical comedy for them.
