Postby blackturtle.us » Fri Oct 09, 2020 7:29 pm

This was an exceptionally short board meeting, but here are a few highlights:
1) HS ASB REPORT: Of special interest was info about Homecoming Events. No date has been set. Board members then talked about a Halloween event.
2) Superintendent's Report - Announced that the school got a waiver to allow in person learning for elementary grades.
3) Principal's Report - Announced that a small cohorts agreement had been developed to allow students on campus to work in person with teachers.
4) Volleyball Coach - Approved.
5) 7/8 Coach - Approved.
6) Game Club Advisor - Approved.
7) Board Policies and Administrative Regulations - updates approved.

This is the second time I've seen the fella on the extreme right of the screen take off his mask to talk. Most people have figured out that sound travels through masks, but apparently this concept hasn't sunk in through this guy's thick skull! Someone suggested in the previous board meeting thread that he might have a speech impediment and that seems possible, but it sounds like he has a thick accent to me. Possibly he has an accent combined with a speech impediment. It's hard to say, but taking off his mask apparently doesn't make either of those two issues go away!

mrgreen: Very funny! Interesting twist on the usual catchphrase: "Oh my gawd, they killed Kenny!"

Kenny survived that scene, but the question is how long will it be before someone forced to attend school under those circumstances actually does pull out a gun and start blowing people away. I hear they're calling it COVID PRISON and I've heard the list of rules is quite lengthy. If I were a kid I'd much rather be at home than at school under those circumstances. Add to that the fact that merely congregating (even with all these restrictions in place) greatly increases the chances of the virus spreading and the only reasonable conclusion an intelligent person can reach is that returning to an in person learning environment is asking for trouble.

Grading America’s Schools In Covid-19 Era
How well distance learning works really depends on your home environment. If you have a nice place to work and live in a quiet neighborhood without distracting noises, it probably works pretty well. It might even be better than physically attending school. But for kids who live in shit hole environments it most definitely is not a good experience.

It's amazing that anything was done about an assault against a Trump supporter. Then again it was in a conservative state and so at least something was done.

HOW TO IGNORE THE PANDEMIC
And if you're stupid enough to take your mask off at a board meeting, thinking that your words will be more clearly understood without the mask in the way, and wind up spreading COVID to other people at the meeting, we won't say we told you so.... we'll be thinking it.... well, okay, we might say it....

New COVID-19 cases continue to rise in 25 states, setting new infection records
The rumor is that Trona is talking about re-opening the school soon.
What kind of stunningly stupid idiot would be even considering such an action at a time like this?
