It's always been hot in Trona and so AC should have been installed decades ago! I know people who have solar panels on their roofs and the panels generate enough electricity to run the AC and during the part of the year when it's not hot they get paid for the electricity they generate. Unlike a home where people use a lot of electricity when the sun is down, schools are closed at night and so it makes perfect sense to have AC and solar panels.

Kids come last in Trona. That's why four of the best teachers left the district a few months ago. The Trona school is a disgrace and should be shut down and the kids bused to Ridgecrest. Only a parent who cares more about convenience than making sure their children are properly educated would have their kids enrolled in Trona!

cows: The maintenance department has totally failed to keep things up and running. The person in charge should have been let go a couple years ago, but he has a brother who is a school board member. It's part of a pattern. The most incompetent teacher on the staff was made the K-12 coordinator. They demoted the principal who was actually effective and knew what the heck he was doing. The completely useless stupidintedent was given an "exemplary" rating by the school board. The school board is made up of a group of worthless idiots who do favors for people they like and make things uncomfortable for people they don't like. It's a mess!

Here's something that was posted in the Missing Board Meetings thread back in November 2021:

Many people working at the school have completely lost confidence in current leadership and this stunt is just more of the same incompetence. It's one thing if both a husband and a wife are teachers on a staff, but when you have a board member, head of a department, and a key financial person all on the staff at the same time, that's a situation that is almost guaranteed to turn into a major problem. It wasn't all that long ago that the credit union in Trona had a number of employees conspire to enrich themselves. Looks like the school is well down the road to a similar debacle!

Think about those same folks being in charge and handling many millions of dollars to “build a new high school and admin offices”. Also current admin has admitted to not finding disbursed funds in the recent past. Is the current accountant qualified? Do they have a degree or certification? CPA? Or were they hired out of convenience?

Curious how many parents in Trona are being notified that their child is in a classroom with an unqualified teacher. Sierra Sands just sent out these notices which are required by law.

The school had a really smart guy who was the financial officer just a couple years ago. I recall seeing him give a presentation and it was really good. The guy seemed really intelligent. What happened to him? If they replaced him with an unqualified person, then why didn't they look a little harder for someone who is qualified? Something doesn't seem quite right. The district pays pretty well and so why can't they get someone who knows what they're doing? Or is it that they don't want someone who knows what they're doing? You know, someone who will follow the law and make sure there isn't any funny business going on behind the scenes?

Do the notices go out to just the parents of kids who are in classrooms with unqualified teachers or do all parents get a list of all the teachers who are unqualified? What I've heard is that the teachers for FIRST, SECOND, FOURTH, and FIFTH grades are currently unqualified. Also the K-12 Coordinator is not fully credentialed. I've heard some vague claims about teachers at the high school, but it sounds like over half of the teachers at the elementary are not qualified and some of them are far from qualified.

I wonder if there was a free bus available to transport students from Trona so they could attend schools in Ridgecrest how many would take advantage of the opportunity. I hear standards are higher in the Sierra Sands school district and so the school work may be more challenging. In Trona kids just kind of slide by with minimal effort. It's a very low quality educational experience and very few Trona graduates are even close to being prepared for much of anything.

So the info I have is that the two teachers who retired were hired during the 1980s. Both were fed up with Dr. Airhead and the moronic school board is what I was told. The second grade teacher (who not only had a credential to teach elementary school, but also had a reading specialist certification) took a job with Sierra Sands and the fifth grade teacher took a job with the charter school in Ridgecrest. It would be in the best interest of students to commute to Ridgecrest if at all possible. A bus should be provided for those who would like to do so. It's criminal what the idiots in charge have done to the schools in Trona during the past couple years!

Only the parents of students in 1st, 4th, and 5th grades should receive notification of an unqualified teacher leading the class. The current 2nd grade teacher is qualified.
The past 2nd grade teacher who left Trona is within months of finishing her reading specialist certification. Admin says their busy but doing what? Everything seems to come before students and staff. School board meets every week but nothing is better for it. Tjusd is circling the drain. Parents talk to some teachers -find out what is happening or not. The cabinet, Arellano, and the school board members should have to answer for their decisions.
