It's like the idea of "factory farms' on steroids only involving plants.

panamint_patty: Factory farms don't sound too appealing, but if it's an efficient way of growing produce, then it might not be a bad way to go. Saving space and water are both good things. I wonder if there's any kind of waste product that has to be disposed of periodically. How many cycles will the growth medium last before it needs to be replaced? Can these factory farms be solar powered?

Tulips blossom beautifully at Stanislaus County farm
Some great flowers being produced in Stanislaus. Not so easy to do the same here.

twister: Although tulips are in the title for that video, I saw more daffodils. It was interesting how they ship the tulip bulbs from the Netherlands and store them in Michigan for the winter cold before having them shipped the rest of the way to California.

Spring is officially here. Yesterday was actually the first day of spring and it was a beautiful day. It got a little windy during the afternoon, but it was still a very pleasant day.

ruskyed: They may have to wait a little longer for spring to begin in Russia, but it lasts awhile longer too. I'm sure some of the flowers they have there are quite interesting and spectacular in their own way.

More info on how the atmosphere on Mars might affect the way vegetables grow. Specifically, they grew radishes, peas, rye and tomatoes.
