Wisteria or Wysteria - How to control Wisteria - Beautiful but destructive creeping vine
This appears to be a hardy plant and if properly cared for a very attractive plant.

Versatile Shrubs that solve problems in the garden
These probably won't do well in the desert, but maybe these shrubs might be useful in certain situations.

This seems like it would be a good plant for the garden.

A useful plant not many remember.... Rose Campion
Another look at this attractive plant. She also talks about uses, but the important thing is that it looks nice and is easy to grow.

Haskap | Honeyberries Everything You Need to Know Growing Them
The scientific name is Lonicera caerulea. According to the Dave's Garden website, this plant will grow well in most any type of soil. It's a very hardy plant.

Lifting and Dividing Lungwort, Pulmonaria officinalis
This plant might not do well in the desert, but this is a good demonstration of how to divide a large plant with this type of root system into new plants.
