Califronia Disastrous Drought: $10k fine for water wastage?
Imagine? A water monitor doesn't want to be called a monitor water. :smack:
Neighbors telling on neighbors? How petty can you get? :wtf:
:roll2:
Sounds like something you'd expect in communist China and probably not the best way to build a good relationship! More likely to result in retaliation.

#DroughtShaming :diablo:
The trend of calling out people who are caught wasting water is what this drought shaming tag is all about. Although there is a water shortage this year, most likely within a year or two we'll have a strong year and things will be more or less back to normal. In the meantime, it would be smart if municipalities started doing more to use water efficiently, home owners started doing more xeriscaping, and coastal cities should probably do more than just think about desalination projects!

It's hard to imagine that some people are so worried about the drought that they'd actually waste time on #DroughtShaming. It seems so pointless that I can't imagine anyone with an actual life doing it. Like others have said, if the government were serious about solving the water shortage problem we'd see desalination plants popping up all over the place and major money put into helping people to convert over to xeriscaping. There's almost none of either.

Local water officials answer questions about drought
Environmental regulations have made everything worse. If they'd just relax the regulations, there wouldn't be much of a problem.

Modesto schools get OK to water athletic fields :smack:
Apparently the drought isn't all that serious otherwise a decision like this would be completely out of the question! Seriously? The football team here in Trona plays on dirt, so why can't teams elsewhere do the same? An exemption like this is ridiculous beyond rational explanation! Safety is a cheap excuse to appease some special interest group.

If the government cared as much about keeping it's people alive as it did about killing it's enemies there would be a Manhattan project going on right now to find fresh water.
Make Trona great again!

Manhattan Project: I really doubt that there is any fresh water to be found, but it is possible to make it through the process of desalination. And so a project to develop less expensive and more efficient ways of removing salt from sea water would be the way to go. Besides the amount of energy required to desalinate sea water, the other big issue is what do you do with all the salt which would accumulate? It's gotta go somewhere!

City expands free sprinkler program
Looks like Bakersfield is doing something smart to actually help people to save water instead of punishing people for using too much!
