Human safety should always be the priority, but it's sad that the bear was killed.

Consecutive Days Above One Hundred Degrees Fahrenheit :diablo:
The last 13 days of June topped the 100F mark. That's June 18th to the 30th. So far the first five days in July have been over 100F. The next 15 days are supposed to be over 100F according to weather.com. Could we be in the middle of a 33 day run of days over 100F? ICYDK, the hottest day so far this summer (according to weather.com) was 118F on June 22nd with a second hottest day at 117F on June 27th. Some like it hot, but this summer so far has been sizzling!

It's Too Darn Hot! WHo To Blame? The Heat Dome! :sun:
Blame it on the jet stream: "This dome formed largely because the jet stream passing over the U.S.-Canada boarder is preventing cooler air from pushing southward."
A blast of sweltering heat will sweep across the United States over the next four days, and some places will see temperatures as much as 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit (5.6 to 8.3 degrees Celsius) above average for this time of year, according to the National Weather Service.

I'd like to see a tally of total acres burned in California south of Bishop and compare it to previous years. Something tells me that this year might be a record-breaker!

Deadly heat wave scorches U.S.
That darn heat dome is really heating things up and 12 states are under heat watches or warnings.

This avid hiker is helping people beat the heat
This guy hikes the Echo Canyon Trail near Phoenix, Arizona, to the top of Camelback Mountain every day and he gives out water along the way in an effort to keep everyone properly hydrated.
This trail is an intense and difficult anaerobic hike the entire 1.23 miles to the summit. It ascends 1,280 ft, from 1,424 ft above sea level to 2,704 ft.

Several grape farmworkers dead, possibly from heat
The spin here is that it might be the employer's fault, but there is about a ninety percent chance that the workers failed to take proper precautions despite the employer offering everything (and probably more) that the law requires. That's not to say that there aren't irresponsible employers, but in this day of lawsuits an irresponsible employer is throwing money away!

Every single day in July had a high over the 100F mark! In fact, the hottest days were 118F on July 27 and July 29 (with a 117F in the middle on July 28). So far, every day in August has topped 100F and with the 13 days in June that makes 53 days in a row with highs above 100F! That's a whole lotta heat!
