Looks like the goon squad is shutting down services which provide truly free speech. It's Nazi Germany all over again folks! When the guy at Lavabit can't even talk about the legal situation which forced him to shut down his service, then free speech has been disposed of. Sure it still seems like we have free speech in everyday life, but when the rubber hits the road, if you say something they don't want you to say, you will be dealt with rather severely.
You make an excellent point. We are free to talk about trivial things which do not threaten the power structure, but cross the line and see what happens! The people of the old USSR enjoyed exactly the same free speech rights which we now have. It seems that rather than providing an example of freedom for the rest of the world to follow, we have decided to follow the example set by the USSR (which we used to describe as a repressive regime). Oh, the irony!!!
BTW, interesting topic. The connection between this "Dark Web" and NSA spying is pretty interesting. It would seem that the most patriotic thing a person could do would be to support the "Dark Web" in any way possible.
