What a hacked Jeep looks like on the road
Car jacking used to be a big headline item. Now it's car hacking. For every problem solved by technology, a new problem is created!

Chrysler recalls 1.4M cars to fix hacking problem
If they can hack into the entertainment system and use that to control the car, then the solution would be as simple as keeping the entertainment system separate from the car control system. Sometimes the boneheads that design these things make some pretty obvious mistakes!

WARNING: Don't go to the wired website where this story was originally posted earlier this week. The website froze my Windows 8 computer for about thirty seconds. I couldn't quit the browser or move the mouse during that entire time. Any site that disables your computer for any amount of time can't be trusted.

I talked to an old friend the other day who says that he doesn't trust any car made after 1972. He says there's just too much electronics in new cars and that he prefers a car that he can work on without any special computerized equipment. I'd say that's about the only way to guarantee a hack free car!

It's Now Legal To Hack Your Car's Many Computers
It's unlikely that people who are into car hacking really care if it's legal or not...

The Government Isn't OK With Driverless Cars You Can't Drive
Seems like a great opportunity for hackers... it's a revolution in auto technology that has the potential to create a huge mess.

Keyless remotes being used against car owners?
Picking a lock is just so old fashioned. Intercepting wireless signals is what contemporary thieves are doing!

Michigan Politicians Want People Who Hack Cars To Spend The Rest Of Their Lives In Prison
People who don't know anything about technology should not be making laws regarding technology, but that's how our system works!
:smack:
Basically the bill says all electronic systems created by manufacturers must be sealed black boxes that purchasers, security researchers, hobbyists, and third-party suppliers should never, ever access under the pain of life imprisonment. "Alter" could mean "make things work better," but it still would be treated as a criminal act under this law.
