Jordan Peterson: The Dangerous I.Q. Debate
Peterson provides a good answer, but he sidesteps a lot of the controversy. However, he answers the question in as honest a way as is possible given some of the societal pressures which exist. It's a little bit like back in the Dark Age when you couldn't say anything which contradicted the dogma of the Catholic Church.

Joe Rogan - Sam Harris on Race & IQ Controversy
Much of this conversation references a book called "The Bell Curve" which was published in the 1990s.

Genes that influence children's reading skills also affect their math skills
Genetics holds the key to understanding how to help children. Different people have different potentials, but most people can master most academic skills given enough time and the proper instruction methods.
"Finding such strong genetic influence does not mean that there is nothing we can do if a child finds learning difficult. Heritability does not imply that anything is set in stone. It just means it may take more effort from parents, schools and teachers to bring the child up to speed."

It's also possible that there are children who should not be expected to master all curricular areas.
The findings build on previous studies showing that genetic variations among British schoolchildren explain most of the differences in how well they perform in exams.

Racial differences in IQ scores
IQ tests were purged of any cultural bias way back in the early 1970s and they've been refined to a higher degree since then. IQ is a reality and the social implications tend to get swept under the rug. As a society we need to come to grips with the problem and stop pretending it doesn't exist.
The narrator conveniently leaves out that the racial differences persist when studying identical twins raised in difference race households, showing that the IQ differences are indeed genetic. So this documentary is very biased toward black apologetics.

Liberals love to squawk about THE SCIENCE when it comes to climate change, but they deny THE SCIENCE when it comes to the relationship between race and intelligence. The science regarding race and intelligence is much more solid than that regarding climate change. Just saying...

MojaveMike: Empirically speaking, you're absolutely right. But if we want to be politically correct we need to obfuscate the facts a little and overlook a few things and throw in a few excuses and weak alternative hypotheses. Intellectual honesty does not come without risk.

I saw a rap video by some derelict named Teka$hi 6ix9ine. The name of the video was GUMMO. I'm willing to bet that not a single person appearing in the video had an IQ over eighty. I'm also willing to bet that not a single one of the two million people who gave the video a thumbs up had an IQ above eighty other than the impressionable youngsters who like it because they think it's cool. The low end of the IQ range contains plenty of eyeballs and can be financially exploited easily enough. Worst of all is that sometimes more intelligent, but less experienced youngsters are influenced by braindead riff raff.

sandman: You're probably about ninety percent correct. The interesting thing is that this particular rapper has been given a life sentence for his role in a long list of crimes. Seems like justice in more than just one way. I watched the video and it's filled with pointless obscenities, spastic dance moves, and devoid of musicianship. How anyone derived enjoyment from the video is inexplicable, except maybe it provided solace to low IQ types and filled them with hope to see one of their own do so well.

I don't understand how gangster rap music has “infected” it's self into so many people's culture. So many other more productive aspects of culture are often ignored. How did this one negative aspect “infect” it's self and manage to leave the other ones behind? Was it just bad luck or was it done by design?
