A person could gain weight just reading this thread. There should be a warning and calorie count posted on the link to this thread. It's not fair!

Мука черемуховая, рябиновая, боярышниковая.
This is interesting. Apparently at one time flour was very expensive (or unavailable) and so bird cherry, rowan, and hawthorn were ground into meal and used to make baked goods. Honey and nuts were also used. These baked goods probably are not as tasty as modern baked goods, but I'd be willing to bet that they are healthier than what we eat now.

Mountain Ash, Rowan
Maybe not all that healthy:
You will read in some places that the seeds contain compounds which upon digestion release small amounts of cyanide. This is probably true. The seeds of some 1,000 plants in the greater group (Rose) do have some cyanidic compounds. Processing (the breaking down of cell structures and letting enzymes go to work) and or cooking usually take care of that issue.

This page provides a lot of interesting information about rowan. I'll cross-list it to the Sacred Plants thread.

Let’s face it — American breakfast is really dessert
Looks like breakfast is what's for dessert or is it the other way around?

I heard something about World Pi Day coming up on March 14th. As a joke many people eat PIE on PI DAY. Not only do the two words sound alike, but pies are round and that makes pi especially relevant. I recall participating in a contest to see who could recite the most digits of pi when I was in middle school. Afterwards we celebrated by eating pie. It's a great tradition!
