recluse: Make that FIFTY YEARS. With the internet it's possible to find all sorts of interesting stuff. Some of the most family-friendly comedians told dirty jokes in non-family-friendly situations. Adults tell adult jokes, but before the internet none of that stuff appeared on TV or at the movies. But that doesn't mean it didn't happen in live venues.

Comedian promotes humor that isn't full of foul language
Funny is funny regardless of whether it offends someone or not. Wit knows no limits. At the end the guy says, "Some comics don't know how to go close to the line without going over it." I'd say that comedy usually involves pushing boundaries at least a little, but some people in the audience lack the intelligence to detect humor and realize when a boundary has been crossed or not.

Is cancel culture ruining comedy?
Would a movie like "The Bad News Bears" even be allowed today? Have things got so squeaky clean that it's impossible to be funny? Is this the result of helicopter parents and their grown children obsessing over every possible imperfection which might interfere with the "healthy" development of children? Is it HEALTHY to be over-protective? It's obvious that there is a social crisis going on which is threatening free speech and artistic expression. At one time it was religious nutjobs who complained about comedy which they saw as offensive, but now they've been joined by "woke" cultists who have an even more bizarre ideology and extreme sensitivity to things which offend their snowflake sensitivities!

CBS Network - The Bad News Bears - "Nakedness Is Next to Godliness" - WBBM Channel 2 (Partial, 1979)
The behavior of the coach in this episode might be considered inappropriate now, but it was seen as reasonable and responsible back when this was made. Just because cultural values change doesn't mean that differences from the past should be condemned. In fact, many changes made during recent decades have been for the worse and that reality should be unabashedly emphasized!

The Bad News Bears (4/9) Movie CLIP - Cups & Supporters (1976) HD
One of the top grossing films from 1976, many people were surprised that such a crude movie would be embraced by so many movie goers. The movie was more realistic in its portrayal of kids than was the case for other movies of the time. The language was cleaned up a little to maintain a general audience rating, but the idea was to try to portray believable characters. In my opinion the characters were somewhat believable, but a little too stereotypical.

kids Buying drugs(Molly) Scene *Good Boys (2019)*
This definitely goes beyond "The Bad News Bears," but it does it in different ways. However, an adult telling an eleven-year-old boy to "suck his dick" would be crossing the line from the point of view of most people. Then again, in this context the phrase is not normally construed as a request for fellatio, but more of a phrase to tell someone that they can go to hell. Even worse is the idea that kids are purchasing drugs, but there are so many things wrong with this scene that it's likely to offend the sensibilities of quite a few people in numerous different ways!

How One Out of Context Video Can RUIN Your Life
Taking things out of context can get you in trouble. In this case a judge ruled against the employers who fired some individuals as the result of a video because a segment of that video was taken out of context. Maybe cancel culture is finally being reigned in and some of the cancelers are being held accountable. It's about time!

Gutfeld reacts to left losing it over 'Let's Go Brandon'
It's gotten to the point where a pilot can't even joke around a little. Southwest at one time encouraged pilots to use humor to put passengers at ease. Now jokes are strictly forbidden! It's like the humor Nazis have taken over and any little joke can get you in deep shit! The good thing is that the pilot is union backed and although the company will go through the firing process, in the end he'll keep his job or get paid off, but the cost of this little charade is ridiculously wasteful. All over a little joke or as CSN said, "It's getting to the point where I'm no fun anymore...."

Is 'Cancel Culture' Killing Comedy?
My take is that cancel culture is trying to kill the freedom of expression, but people will fight against this oppression and in the end cancel culture will be cancelled. I try to remain optimistic about these things even if maybe things are worse than they seem.

COMEDIANS SLAM CANCEL CULTURE (Bill Burr, Jerry Seinfeld, Ricky Gervais, John Cleese, Stephen Fry)
BILL BURR: The people who complain.... it's a very small group of people and they're bullies.
JOHN CLEESE: All humor is critical. If you start saying we must not criticize them, then humor is gone. With humor goes a certain sense of proportion and then.... you're living in "1984." (That's the name of a book for those who are unfamiliar with George Orwell's book titled "1984.")
Stephen Fry: Talks about the "advantages" of extremism and having enemies. Funny how "moderates" are the enemies of extremists on both the left and the right!
